Product Description
Microsoft OEM Windows Server 2016 Standard 64-Bit 16 Core DVD 1 Pack. Windows Server 2016 brings cloud-ready and hybrid cloud capabilities to the data center, providing customers with the platform they need to gain competitive advantage and increase business value. Enhancements in management capabilities, networking, storage, and security options provide customers with the added flexibility they need to meet ever-changing business requirements. Additional platform features such as Windows Server Containers and Hyper-V Containers increase application, speed, agility, and further enhance security. Nano Server is a new minimum-footprint OS deployment option that is a more efficient data center host and a lightweight operating system perfect for native cloud applications. Some new features specific to the Datacentre Edition include an Azure-optimized networking stack, Storage Spaces Direct and storage enhancements such as Storage Replica and Shielded Virtual Machines. The Standard Edition will continue to provide the core functionality of Windows Server, including up to two Hyper-V or Hyper-V Container instances (customers will need Datacentre for unlimited VMs and Hyper-V Containers). Both the Standard and Datacentre Editions include unlimited Windows Server Containers.
The Windows Server 2016 licensing model includes both Core + Client Access Licenses (CALs). Each user and/or device accessing a licensed Windows Server Standard, Datacentre or Multipoint edition requires one Windows Server CAL or one Windows Server and one Remote Desktop Services (RDS) CAL. A Windows Server CAL grants a user or device access to any Windows Server edition of the same or a previous version. Each Window Server CAL grants access to multiple licenses of Windows Server. After the General Availability of Windows Server 2016, the business model for Standard and Datacentre editions will shift from processor-based licensing to core-based licensing.
