Well, another year has passed and a lot has happened since I reviewedF1 21, firstly I don't know if you've heard about the small matter of Russia invading Ukraine further, the world entering a recession that the average family is finding it difficult to feed their children and heat their homes but more importantly Netflix made a series that follows the multimillionaire drivers and teams of the F1 World Championship as they spend staggering amounts of money on cars, an amount that would drag a small country out of poverty. I mean, it doesn't matter if a streaming service pays a small fortune for behind the scenes rights, right? Well, it dramatically changed the outcomeof the whole F1 21season, well, the race director thought that the black guy who won the title would be hurt by looking at the numbers, so he decided to single-handedly give the title to the white guy (you know the one who refused to kneel) to do something about it. More exciting for the average white guy who is a fan of the TV show and the competition. Worse, we were then told to swallow it like a cheap whore, but the good news is that the viewing figures are up, forget honesty, cash is king.
 

A New Race Director, Looks Like They Dismissed the Old One
So, we're heading into a brand new season, new rules and car specs are in place, oh and a new race director has sacked the old one, I can't think why. The introduction of these new features means the actual design of the cars has changed dramatically, bigger tires mean better handling in those fast corners and the steering and control of this year's cars have been realistically recreated for F1 22. You have time to adapt from last year's gameplay dynamics to this year, but Codemasters have delivered a thrilling game that provides an unrivaled sense of speed, you can feel the adrenaline coursing through your veins as you chase down a rival and overtake him as he turns the corner and accelerates to take the lead.It's a game that gives you the option to either be thrown completely into the thrilling arcade-style racing, or you can use the full simulation package and control every step from R&D to free practice to the checkered flag and everything in between. Codemasters has the template perfectly tuned, like the engine of an F1 car, making subtle changes and knowing when to make big, important changes, like this year removing the classic F1 cars and replacing them with supercars, these and other tweaks have kept the game fresh and engaging, while completing the balancing act of keeping the difficulty level high for experienced players and feeling inclusive for newcomers to the series.
