You'll be sent on side quests to get something or kill someone as requested to earn new weapons, rewards and unlock certain locations such as green pastures, garbage dump and arid desert, all of them have wildlife to hunt for raw materials, places to fish and places to mine metals, but they're also filled with the Shadow, they're the main enemies you'll have to defeat and they'll come at you in numbers that don't make destroying them an easy feat.

The biggest and best overhaul has to be said to be the combat mechanics, I always found the original slow, clunky and unresponsive, which to be honest, is frustrating to say the least. The Spellbook Weissycan provide you with magical support for melee attacks, or as I prefer long-range attacks like spear-throwing or energy blasts to keep your enemies at bay. The system gives you passive abilities that enhance your weapons and the Grimoire's magical attacks. When you defeat Shades, you release words that increase your physical damage or increase the drop rate of the item, so you can get more unique items that escape you. Especially fun and testing is the incredible boss fight, each one is individual and requires you to figure out which type of attack is effective against each boss.

With stunning visual upgrades from the original PlayStation 3 game NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139, a great voice cast with stunning visual upgrades and a great soundtrack, both of which are comparable to any game on the market, it works great on both PS4 and PS5, every track is memorable and the well-written script only adds to the total experience.
