It’s been 7 years since the first game in Life is Strange set the gaming world on fire, Deck Nine has remastered the nostalgic journey that intertwines a great coming-of-age drama with a very dark, surprising story with many twists and turns. For most of the game, you decide who your character talks to, what they say in cutscenes, you control what your character does next like a storybook, otherwise you control them from the third-person perspective. You can move around freely and explore your surroundings, use different objects, and cooperate with the people living in Arcadia Bay. There are a number of optional collectibles hidden in each section.

The graphics are what really stand out when you start playing Life is Strange: Remastered Collection. Deck Nine has been improved upon in one of the greatest remasters we’ve seen, with improvements to both the visuals and animation, color grading, detailing, lighting, and textures. With superior shading, you can see dust drifting through the air or sunlight glinting off of a window as you pass by. British indie band Daughter wrote and performed the score, and the game’s soundtrack features rock, indie-folk, and alternative tracks that don’t dominate the interactive events taking place, but instead enhance the mood of each scenario.
